What a sensational Saturday morning of parkrunning for Raheny Shamrock Athletics Club. Once again, the Shamrocks were lighting up courses locally in Dublin and across the country.
This weekend, an incredible 71 club members took part across 19 different parkrun events. The sense of community and dedication on display was outstanding. Whether runners were chasing a personal best, supporting a friend, or simply enjoying a social 5k, every participant represented the club with pride.
Weekend Highlights
There were some exceptional performances at the sharp end of the field this weekend, including an overall victory, podium finishes, and several top-10 placings.
- Owen Joyce takes the crown at Templemore: Huge congratulations to Owen Joyce, who stormed to overall victory at Templemore parkrun in a fantastic time of 19:39, taking 1st place.
- Podium finishes for Annette Kealy and Jean Dunne: At Malahide parkrun, Annette Kealy delivered an outstanding run of 19:04 to finish as 2nd female and an impressive 11th overall. At Strokestown, Jean Dunne ran 27:13 to finish 4th overall and 2nd female.
- Top-10 finishes across the country: Dermot Coffey secured 5th place at Father Collins in 19:07, Keith Fleming placed 6th overall at Poppintree in 19:38, and John McManus claimed 7th place at Bere Island in 23:28.
Strength in Numbers
It was not only about speed at the front of the field. The club’s strength in numbers was equally impressive, with strong representation across Ireland.
- Father Collins parkrun had the highest club attendance this week, with 17 Raheny Shamrocks on the course.
- Malahide parkrun followed closely with 16 club members.
- Poppintree parkrun also saw an excellent turnout, with 9 runners representing the club.
- Fairview parkrun was well supported with 6 Shamrocks in action.
- There was also strong representation at Donabate and Poolbeg with 3 runners each, as well as Tolka Valley, Navan, River Valley, and Bere Island with 2 runners each.
- Single representatives proudly flew the Raheny flag at Avondale Forest, Bushy (Dublin), Castlehaven, Con Smith, Gorey, Sligo, Strokestown, Templemore, and Tymon.
