Road Racing Roundup – Week Ending June 21st 2026

It was another action-packed weekend for Raheny Shamrock AC, with club athletes racing strongly across 5km, 5 mile, 10km, half marathon, quarter marathon and marathon distances. From Friday evening speed to Sunday championship medals and marathon heroics, the green and white was well represented throughout. 💚🤍

Friday: Boyne 5km

The weekend began on Friday at the Boyne 5km, where Aidan Jones produced a sharp run of 16:32, while Gerard Fay clocked 26:57 to get his busy weekend underway.

Saturday: Dunshaughlin 10km

Saturday brought a strong Raheny Shamrock AC contingent to the always-competitive Dunshaughlin 10km. Aaron Molloy led the club home in 34:26, followed by John Clarke in 37:20 and Gerard Curley just two seconds later in 37:22. Peter O’Neill ran 37:59, Keith Byrne broke 40 minutes with 39:52, while Roisin Dooley and Nick Alexander finished strongly in 49:32 and 49:38 respectively. Gerard Fay rounded out the club results in 1:01:09, completing race two of an impressive weekend double. 👏

Sunday: Marathon Miles and Championship Medals

Waterford Viking Races

There was a superb result at the Waterford Viking Marathon, where Michael Brady took the overall win in 2:24:15 — a brilliant performance over the classic distance. 🥇 Angela Charlton also completed the marathon in 5:20:20.

In the Waterford Viking Half Marathon, Wes O’Brien led the Raheny finishers in 1:20:15, followed by Tara Kennedy in 1:29:33 and Mary Walsh in 1:31:52. Ronan Harris also delivered a fine 41:29 in the Waterford Viking Quarter Marathon.

Kildare Thoroughbred Races

At the Kildare Thoroughbred Marathon, Gerard Fay completed his third race of the weekend in 5:43:19 — a serious display of endurance. Dan Wallace also represented the club well in the Kildare Thoroughbred Half Marathon, finishing in 1:54:38.

Irish Runner 5 Mile and National 5 Mile Championships

The Irish Runner 5 Mile, incorporating the National 5 Mile Championships, proved to be a hugely successful outing for Raheny Shamrock AC, with fast times, podium places and national medals across several categories. Adam Condon led the club home in 26:19, followed by David Jackson in 27:22, Brian Sexton in 27:29 and Graham Ahearne in 27:31, with Graham also claiming National O45 bronze.

There were excellent individual honours throughout the field. Ciaran McCarthy ran 27:49 to win National O50 silver, while Fiona Roche produced a standout 28:45 to finish 3rd lady overall and take National O40 gold. Annette Kealy added National O55 gold in 31:19, Rory O’Sullivan claimed National Junior Men silver in 31:27, Bernadette Bruen secured National O50 silver in 32:31, Ryley Martin Auld took National Junior Men bronze in 34:35, and Mary Lynch won National O75 gold in 39:53. A fantastic medal haul for the club! 🏅
