Kieran Kelly set a new club indoor 1500 metre record of 3:44.60 at the AIT Grand Prix, which was ran as part of the mile race.
While there was celebration for a new club record for Kelly, the time was unfortunately point six seconds outside the European indoor championship qualifying standard.
Brian Fay posted 3:47.49 at the 1500 metre mark, but pulled back Kelly in the final 100 metres to finish seventh in the mile in 4:03.31 with Kieran Kelly took eighth place in 4:03.66.
The very best of luck to Kieran and Brian as they looks to gain the European standard at this week’s national indoor championship in Abbotstown.
