Dessie Delights while McCarthy takes flight

Des Kennedy struck gold as outright winner in the Saarbrucken Half Marathon in Germany on Sunday in a time of 1:13:26 with 38 second to spare over the second placed local.

Meanwhile back on home soil on Saturday in a wind-swept BHAA ALSAA cross country race Ciaran McCarthy took an overall second place to outright winner Sean Doran.

The course measured 5.4 mile for the men with sloppy and windy conditions to deal with. For the Record Ciaran finished second. Ian McConkey was next up seventh place. Others who ran included Dave Gargan 68th, Vincent Clohisey 76th, Orla Lambe 79th and Colm Gormley 90th.

In the two-mile Women’s event Eimear O’Keeffe finished 13th overall also competing were Ann Marie Gargan 19th overall and second in her age category. June Cumiskey 21st and first in her age category.

Next BHAA race is new to the BHAA calendar and it’s a four-mile combined cross-country race been organised by Central bank in Wesley College Dundrum on Saturday 22nd and one of the race organisers for this event is our very own Robbie Beggs.
