National League

There were good performances by both men’s and women’s team at the second round of the National League in Belfast. Sue Scallan won the 400m in 55.72 while Aisling Drumgoole was second in both the 100m and 200m clocking 12.37(pb) and 25.25. Helen Buckley was 3rd in the javelin and 4th in the high jump. Mieke Kiernan was third in the hammer and 4th in the shot while Claire Beauchamp was 5th in the discus. Maeve Sheehan was third in the triple jump, 5th in the 100mH and 6th in the long jump. Lucy Barrett was 4th in the 3000m while Aoibhinn McGoldrick and Caoimhe Flynn were 5th in the 800m and 1500m respectively. The 4x100m relay of Fiona Ryan, Susan, Ailbhe Finnegan and Aisling were second. The 4×400 quartet of Susie O’Flynn, Susan, Ailbhe and Aisling were first. The women finished on 87 points today with a total of 174.

On the men’s side Kieran Kelly won the men’s 1500m in 3:52. Freddy Sittuk was second in both the 3000mSC and 5000m. Mark Smyth was second in the 200m with a pb of 22:15. Dan Scully was second in the 800m in 1:57.16(pb) while Luc Bellantani was second in the long jump with 6.42m. There were third place finishes for Sean O’Driscoll in the 100m, Brion Hoban in the hammer, Jamie Sheridan in the high jump and Simon Devenney in the walk. Brion Hoban was also 4th in the shot. There was also 4th place finishes for Cillian Kirwan in the 400m and Conor Bermingham in the pole vault. Conor was 5th in the triple jump while Conor Walsh was 5th in the 56lb weight for distance. Ian Graham put in solid performances in the javelin and shot put, finishing 7th in both while Donal Foley was 7th in the 400mH. The 4×100 quartet of Luc, Sean, Conor Bermingham and Mark finished 3rd with 45:09 while the 4×400 quartet of Cillian, Daniel, Jamie and Kieran finished fourth. The men’s team accumulated 102 points for a grand total of 199 points. Well done to both teams.

On the roads Brian Leahy won the Clogherhead 10k in 35:19 while Mick King ran 38:35.
