Kearney Makes National 1500m Final

Niamh Kearney qualified for the 1500m final on the first night of the national senior track and field championships in Santry.

Kearney clocked 4:38.36 to win the second heat of the 1500 metres, two seconds clear of Leevale’s Michelle Finn.

The 1500m final takes place at five past five on Saturday evening.

Brandon Arrey was unlucky to miss out on the 400m final, finishing second in the first heat of the day in 48.44 seconds. The price of being in heat one, leaving a marker for the others as Arrey missed out as a faster loser.

Luke Murphy finished seventh in his 800m heat posting 1:58.44, while Susie O’Flynn finished sixth in her 800m heat in 2:22.12.

Meg Tyrrell finished ninth in the pole vault with a best jump of 2.45 metres.
