Raheny Shamrock men’s team have been awarded silver at the national marathon championships.
The team of Mick Clohisey, Eoin Keegan and Eric Champ scored a combined time of 8:01.50 for silver. Gold went to Rathfarnham WSAF in 7:56.14 with bronze to Keep ‘Er Lit with 8:05:02.
The women’s team of Carmel Ward, Shirley Coyle and Lisa McCarthy finished in fifth place with a combined time of 9:45.34. North Belfast Harriers took gold with 8:36.50, silver went to Donore Harriers in 9:18.58 with bronze going to Brothers Pearse in 9:21.01.
The national marathon took place in Belfast on Sunday October third. Originally Athletics Ireland had decided to award senior championship medals to just the three individual male and female positions.
After a number of complaints and feedback to the AI competitions committee team medals have been awarded for the 2021 championship.
