Niamh Kearney took Dublin cross country bronze as she led the women’s team to silver at a success Dublin senior and junior cross country championship in Santry.
Kearney took second place just 11 seconds behind silver medallist DCH’s Lauren Tinkler with Meghan Ryan of DSD winning out right.
Kearney with Kate Purcell eighth, Iseult O’Donnell 11th and Siobhan Eviston 13th scored a total of 35 points for team silver with DCH taking old with 17 points and Rathfarnham WSAF bronze with 61 points.
Also performing well were Aisling Ahern (15th), Lucy Barrett (21st), Shannon Kelly (23rd) and Laura Brennan (42nd).

In the men’s race Gavin Eccles just missed out on bronze pipped to the line by Paul O’Donnell of DSD. Clonliffe’s Sergiu Ciobanu took gold ahead of Rathfarnham’s Mitchel Byrne.
The men’s team were fourth with Cillian Kirwan taking eighth place, Dylan O’Brien 26th and Robert Frewen 28th. Also competing were Shane Ryan (31st), Graham O’Dwyer (33rd), Ciaran McCarthy (35th) and Joe McCracken (40th).
Caroline Kavanagh produced a very strong performace in the junior women’s race to take 20th place.
While Adam Condon grabbed an excellent bronze in the junior men’s race to lead the junior men’s team home to gold!
Condon was just 27 seconds off gold medallist Scott Fagan of MSB with Gavin Curtin of Donore Harriers second.
Luke Murphy took sixth place with Shane Spring seventh and Dara MacRiocaird 15th along with Condon gave Raheny 31 points some seven points clear of Clonliffe for an extremely well deserved gold.
Conall Rogers (18th) and Ruairi Walsh (19th) saw six Raheny athlete’s in the top 20! With some other excellent runs from Chris Hamill (21st), Eoghan Finn (24th) and Damhan Mulligan (26th) a very strong junior team!
