The AXA Raheny 5 returns to the roads after going virtual in 2021 due the Covid-19 pandemic and again looks to return a big crowd to Raheny.
“We’re delighted to be bringing the Raheny 5 back to the roads of Raheny on the last Sunday in January” said AXA Raheny 5 race director Dave Hooper.
“A lot has changed since we last held the race in 2020, we in Raheny Shamrock are looking forward to hosting the AXA Raheny 5, in-line with all public health guidelines and delivering a safe and fun event”.

The AXA Raheny 5 is firmly established as the biggest road race in Ireland and has already attracted a high-quality field with the members of the Irish senior cross-country men’s and women’s already entered.
2020 champion, Ireland senior international Hiko Tonosa is expected to lead the charge and is expected to be joined by two-time European cross-country champion Fionnuala McCormack.
While the race will see the best of Ireland’s distance runners, a big crowd of different levels is expected. All finishers will receive the famous AXA Raheny 5 plaque.
The main race gets underway at 3pm sharp but is now supported by the biggest children’s race card on Irish roads.
The first of four children’s races get underway at 1.30pm building up to the main event at 3pm.
For the 20th year in a row, Raheny Shamrock has partnered with Raheny hospice as their official charity partner. In previous years, fundraising as raised approximately €10,000 per year for the hospice.
