Sophie Becker, Niamh Kearney and Cillian Kirwan all claimed podium places on day two of the national indoor championships in Abbotstown.
Kearney was the first to climb the podium on the day, taking bronze in the 3,000 metres. This race saw a new championship record from Sarah Healy in 8:53.67 with Olympian Michelle Finn taking silver in 9:11.46.
Kearney ran a strong tactical race to take bronze in 9:16.57 ahead of Sligo’s Aoife Kilgallon.

Sophie Becker produced a fantastic performance to take silver in the 400 metres after a difficult training period.
Becker clocked 52.64 seconds for silver behind Phil Healy who clocked a championship record of 51.75 seconds.

Cillian Kirwan took silver in the 800 metre race with a very strong final 100 metres holding off Roland Surlis of Annalee for silver in 1:50.51. Three time European medallist Mark English took gold in 1:49.39.

Elsewhere Juan Ignacio Pena finished eighth in the 1500m in 4:00.00. While Michael Farrelly clocked 7.11 seconds to finish seventh in the 60m semi-final, having posted 7.18 seconds in his heat.
Sean L’Estrange posted 7.17 seconds to finish sixth in semi-final three having clocked 7.08 seconds to finish third in his heat.
