Becker Wins Morton Games 400m

Sophie Becker continued her great form winning the 400 metres at last night’s Morton Games.

Becker posted 52.69 seconds for victory in wet conditions, having always been in control of the race and seeing off KCH’s Cliodhna Manning in 53.77.

American Kendall Baisden took third place in 54.47 seconds.

Eric Favors took second place in the shot put with a best of 19.57 metres finishing second behind Italian Olympian Nick Ponzio who threw 20.98 metres. American Andrew Liskowitz took third place in 19.49 metres.

Mark Smyth clocked 10.84 seconds in his 100 metre heat to take fifth place. Just outside progressing to the final.

While on the undercard, Shane Spring clocked four minutes 31.64 seconds in the men’s junior mile. KCH’s Cathal O’Reilly won out in 4:20.67.

In the Juvenile 16×100 metre relay the Raheny Shamrock team finished a very strong fifth in 4:13.50. In a strong and innovative event in front of a crowded Morton stadium.
