Medal Hauls At British & Irish Masters Cross Country

Raheny Shamrock athletes landed a medal haul at the British & Irish masters cross country held in Santry Demesne on November 12.

Annette Kealy continued her winning ways claiming the over-50 title and leading the Irish team home to gold. The team of Kealy, Breda Gaffney and Carmel Crowley had 12 points to spare on England.

Mary Lynch helped the women’s over-70 team to gold. The team of Eileen Kenny, Margaret Glavey and Lynch had 15 points to spare on England.

Zoe Quinn was part of the Ireland team which won the over-45 gold.

David Kirwan was part of the Irish team which won M45 gold. Ireland landed the overall title, the first time in 33 years that England had been beaten.

Well done too everyone involved.

At the IUAA Road Relays on Friday, Lucy Barrett was part of the UCD team which took gold. Barret posting 6:08 on her one mile leg.

Trinity took fourth place in the men’s race with Adam Condon 5:14 (leg one mile) and Shane Spring 10:01 (leg two, two miles). Daniel Stone clocked 10:06 for leg two, helping DCU B to fifth place. Conall Rogers posted 5:38 for the opening leg leg as DCU C finished ninth.

On Sunday a large number of club members took part in the Remembrance Run in the Phoenix Park.
