It was two for two for Mullingar, as Martin Fagan won the 31st AXA Raheny 5 this afternoon. In good racing conditions, he clocked 23.36, 8 seconds ahead of local favourite Mick Clohisey, who was second in 23:44 with Raheny team mate Conor Dooney third in 24:11. In the women’s race Leevale’s Lizzie Lee was clear winner in 26:33, with Ann-Marie McGlynn second in 27:13 and Crusaders Orla Drumm third in 27:23. Host club Raheny won the men’s team event, while Leevale won the women’s event. There was a record number of finishers this year, with over 2,600 completing the course, more than 300 than last years.
