Ian Conroy waited until round 10 to claim the 2022/23 Winter League, claiming his fifth title in all.
Conroy went into the final round with four wins and two second places in six of the opening nine rounds. Conroy’s performance in finishing seventh in the Hamill Estate Agents Raheny Open Mile saw him to victory with 15 points.
Conroy had six points to spare on runner-up James Cassidy who had one win and six top-five finishes in the league. Peter Rogan took third place with 29 points. Keith Fleming just missed out on third place only three points behind Rogan.
Division II was a much more clean cut affair with Brian Cotter taking the title with 65 points. Cotter had wrapped up victory ahead of the final round. Joe Kiernan took second place with 82 points. Dave Fenney finised third with 93 points.
Jenny Colbert took the Division III title with 144 points. Deirdre O’Dwyer followed up last year’s division IV win taking second place in division III with 177 points.
The closet battle of the entire competition was in division IV with Michelle Donohoe pipping Bernie Kearns on countback.
Both Donohoe and Kearns collected 182 points in their best seven races. However Donohoe had more head-to-head victories over the race series and took the division IV title.
Steven Rowe took third place with 191 points, five points clear of Josie Power.
