Leinster Gold For Fogarty, Rodriguez and McCorry

In a busy weekend on the track and field events with Niamh Fogarty, Angela Castell Rodriguez and Oisin McCorry taking Leinster championship gold.

Niamh Fogarty took discus gold with a best of 49.32 metres, well clear of second placed Sarah Graham of St. Abbans.

While, Angela Castell Rodriguez took 200 metre gold in 26.11 seconds over a second clear of Blaoithin Ni Chiarain of Dunleer.

It was a successful outing for our 200m runners, Isabel Twomey was just outside the medals in fourth place in 27.47 seconds in the junior women’s race. Twomey clocked 27.49 seconds in her heat.

Meanwhile, Jason Dempsey took bronze in the men’s junior 200m in 24.30 having posted 23.94 in the heat.

Oisin McCorry won the 400m hurdlers clocking 57.18 seconds well clear of second placed Rory Ardiff.

Elsewhere, Zoe Quinn was fourth in the masters 1500m in 4:55.40, taking W45 gold.

Paul Curtayne took master’s high jump bronze with a best of 1.35 metres.

In the senior 1500m Robert Frewen took fifth place in 4:19.32. In the masters race David Kirwin was third overall in 4:19.93 taking M45 gold. Paul Curtayne posted 5:29.86.

In the shot put Paul Curtayne threw 8.87 metres.

In the master mens 800m Paul Curtayne clocked 2:35.58 and Ciaran O’Coigligh clocked 3:22.52 for M70 silver. In the masters 200m race Ciaran O’Coigligh posted 37.13 seconds.

Overseas, at the British milers club in Manchester Kieran Kelly clocked 3:49.47 in the 1500m A race.

In Oordegom, Juan Igancio Pena ran a seasons best 3:47.91 in the 1500 metres. While, Orla Comerford clocked 12.55 in the 100 metres.
