Smyth And Becker Claim AAI Games Wins

Mark Smyth won the 200 metres at the AAI Games in Morton Stadium on Saturday.

Smyth posted 20.50 seconds the fastest of the day. Adam Murphy of Tinryland took second place in 21.15 seconds.

While Sophie Becker took victory in the 400m in 53.68 seconds on Sunday. Becker was well clear of Tir Chonaill who posted 55.03.

On Becker had taken second place in the 200m posting 23.46 seconds. Leevale’s Lucy-May Sleeman won out in 23.34 seconds.

Meanwhile, Niamh Kearney took third place in the 2000m steeplechase clocking 6:43.48. Austrian Georgia Winkcup won out in 6:20.13 followed by Michelle Finn in 6:23.91.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Oisin McCorry finished second in the 400m hurdles in 55.89 seconds. Ciaran Nugent of Carraig Na Bhfear broke the tape in 55.68 seconds.

While in the long jump Colm Burke finished third with a best of 7.13 metres. Burke

Also, Kieran Kelly was fourth in the 1500m in 3:50.79. Lucy Barrett was fifth in the women’s event in 4:41.07. Michael Farrelly posted 11.03 seconds in the 100 metres. In his second 100m race Farrelly posted 10.90 seconds.
