Sophie Becker starred as the Irish women’s 4x400m finished in eighth place in the World Championship final.
The team of Becker, Roisin Harrison (Emerald A.C.), Kelly McGrory (Tir Chonaill A.C.) and Sharlene Mawdsley (Newport A.C.) clocked 3:27.08.
A fantastic performance by the Irish team who were down their best athlete in Rhasidt Adeleke for this competition.
A brilliant performance by Becker who has now ran in seven separate World championship races between Orgeon 2022 and Budapest 2023.
A very big congratulations to the Sophie and the Irish women’s team on a brilliant performance, having qualified for the final, just 0.12 seconds off the national record.
”We’re putting Ireland on the map”
Sharlene Mawdsley is confident there is more to come from Team Ireland, after the women finished 8th in the World in the 4×400 m relay.
