The opening senior races of the cross country season got underway today at the National sports campus with the AI Open cross country.
In the senior Women’s race Lucy Barrett took 24th place with Sharon Keilthy 34th.
While in the senior men’s race Stephen Fay took 14th place with Conall Rogers 26th, Robert Frewen 30th and Dylan O’Brien 33rd.
In the junior men’s race Jamie Rankin Whelan finished 20th with Christian Finn 55th. In the junior women’s race Siomha Magee took 24th place.
With places on the Ireland team up for grabs at the master’s home nations, there was some big performances produced.
In the master’s women’s race Zoe Quinn came home in ninth place, taking third over-45. Orla Gormley finished 35th taking seventh O/55 and June Comiskey won the o/75 race.
In the masters men, Ian Conroy took eighth place and third O/40 with David Kirwin 21st and second O/45. John Dunne was 22nd and third O/45.
Ciaran McCarthy was 39th and fourth O/50, followed by Rory O’Sullivan in 86th place and Niall Power 93rd.
In the Cross Country Experience race Michael McGrath came home 72nd.
