Masters Home Countries Cross Country – updated

The results from the Home Countries Masters cross country are in and make for pleasant reading.

Des Kennedy finished 23rd overall, helping Ireland collect over 45 gold as third scorer on the team.

Kennedy was sixth overall in the age category helping Ireland to 22 points four clear of England while Wales took bronze.

Meanwhile Annette Kealy was 16th overall in the women’s race, 82 seconds off the race winner England’s Claire Martin.

Annette was first scorer on the over 45 team which took silver with 12 points, just one point behind England and 14 points clear of Scotland.

Orla Gormley was third scorer on the Irish team which landed over 50 bronze with 25 points, 17 points behind England with Scotland taking silver.

Orla finished in 83rd place overall and 13th place in her category. Adrienne Atkins finished in 92nd place as the fourth member of the Irish team.

Elsewhere Michael McMahon was the first Raheny man home in 20th position in the overall race, a non-scoring member of the Irish team which won over 35 gold with 10 points.

Mick Traynor was a non-scoring member of the men’s over 50 team taking 35th position overall, Ireland taking the silver medals in the team race.
