Brian Fay set a new club indoor 3,000 metre record last night clocking 7:40:09 at the World Athletics Indoor Tour Meet in Boston on Sunday night.
Fay finished third, breaking his pervious club record by over three seconds. Fay clocked 7:43.85 in Boston last year.
The race was won by Lamecha Girma of Ethiopia in a meet record of 7:29.09. Edwin Kurgat of Kenya took second place in 7:39.38 with Fay third.
Alistair Cragg’s national 3000m indoor record of 7:38:59 is under serious threat by Fay and a number of other Irish athletes.
