Smyth Lands University Indoor Gold

Mark Smyth won the intervarsity 200 metres posting 21.08 seconds with some time to spare on Andrew Egan.

Smyth of DCU won his heat in 21.35 seconds before going to win outright gold in 21.08 with Egan posted 21.65 for silver.

Tara Meier took 60 metres hurdles bronze posting 8.84 seconds. Meier in the colours of TUD won her semi-final in 8.91 seconds.

In the final Meier clocked 8.94 seconds behind SETU Arabella Adeoya in 8.75 for gold and Niamh O’Neill of DCU in 8.78 seconds for silver.

Michael Farrelly finished in the 60 metres posting 6.93 seconds. Farrelly then helped DCU to 4x200m silver bringing the team home in a combined 91.17 seconds. Just 3/10’s of a second behind UL.

Lucy Barrett took fourth place in the 3,000 metres clocking 10.09.92 just three seconds off the bronze.
