Cillian Kirwan set a new club 800m indoor record at the NIA Live meet in Abbotstown last night.
Kirwan posted 1:48.09 to win heat three by some five seconds from Annadale’s Brhane Gebrehrhan. The time broke Kieran Kelly’s previous record of 1:48.82 set In Athlone in 2016.
Meanwhile, Sophie Becker wrapped her preparation for the World Indoor championship winning the 400m heat four in 53.00 seconds. A very impressive performance from Becker.

Also racing Charlotte Wingfield posted 7.73 seconds in heat four of the 60m sprint. Wingfield also posted 24.55 seconds to win heat four. While Patricia O’Cleirigh posted 75.70 in heat one of the 400m.
In the 800m heat one Paul Curtayne posted 2:36.54 and heat two Conall Rogers clocked 1:58.93.
Juan Pena won the mile in 4:14.72, well clear of Oisin Toye of Finn Valley who clocked 4:31.01. Robert Frewen posted 4:39.84. In heat one Niall Power clocked 5:17.73.
