Colm Bourke and Daphni Doulaptsi Teeuwen landed silver medals on day one of the national indoor championships.
Daphni Doulaptsi Teeuwen took triple jump silver with a best of 12.44 metres and was just off gold taken by the experienced Saragh Buggy of St. Abbans.
Doulaptsi Teeuwen secured silver with her fifth jump advancing from her best jump of 12.40m in round two. Anna Ryan of Moycarkey Coolcroo took bronze with a best of 12.11m.
Meanwhile, Colm Bourke took silver in the men’s event with a best jump of 14.13 metres. Bourke secured silver on his fifth jump, improving on his fourth round effort of 13.83m.
David Onwudiwe of Ennis Track took gold with a best of 14.29 metres, which Onwudiwe jumped on his first effort. Bronze went to Denis Finnegan of An Riocht with a best of 13.59m.
Both Doulaptsi Teeuwen and Bourke are due back in action tomorrow in the long jump.
Elsewhere, Oisin McCorry posted 51.48 seconds for third place in heat three of the 400 metres. A good effort by McCorry who was drawn against the powerful relay runner Jack Raftery.
