Boston Marathon Success and Weekend Round-up

Michael Brady was first Raheny athlete home at the Boston Marathon posting a very impressive 2:23:04. A top 100 finish for Brady.

Brady was followed home by David Jackson 2:49:01, Ciara Brady 3:11:52, Lisa McCarthy 3:28:16, Aileen Cooke 3:29:41, Elaine McNulty 4:01:49 and Mary Walsh 5:48.00.

A very well done to all marathoners at the granddaddy marathon of them all.

Earlier in the day on home soil in St. Anne’s Park, Fiona Roche won the Battle of Clontarf 10 mile incorporating the Leinster 10 Mile Championships, clocking 60:02.

Robert Frewen posted 56:45 and was followed home by Graham Ahearne 56:56, Alasdair Brown 59:12, Conor Ahern 59:12, Robert Lea 59:42

Martin McKenna 61:11, Brian Kelly 61:50, Colm Cassidy 62:11, Eric Champ 62:18, Davey Duane 65:33, Dave Woods 65:39, Philip Mcgovern 66:24, Anthony Lee 67:21.

There was gold for the men’s team of Robert Frewen, Graham Ahearne and Alasdair Brown. While the women’s team of Fiona Roche, Tara Kennedy and Shirley Coyle.

There was also gold the women’s O/35 team of Tara Kennedy, Shirley Coyle and Karen Syle. Whereas, the men’s O/35 team of Conor Ahern, Brian Kelly and Colm Cassidy took bronze.

The men’s O/50 team of Eric Champ, Dave Woods & Philip McGovern took silver.

Elsewhere at the Kinsale 10 Mile, John O’Sullivan posted 76:21 and Deirbhile O’Keeffe 79:15. At the Dundalk Gales 5km John Clarke clocked 18:20.

On Thursday, Anthony O’Brien was first Raheny athlete home at the Streets of Kilkenny 5km in 14:34. O’Brien was followed home by Jordan McDonnell 15:16, Robert Frewen 15:58, Lucy Barrett 17:18, Christopher Quaid 17:26, Sean Kelly 17:32 and Anthony Walsh 18:00

On Friday, Aoife O’Connor clocked 33:12 at the streets of Killarney 5 mile.
