It was a tough day at the national track and field final for the men’s and women’s team, however those who wore green and white wore it with pride and courage like any great Raheny athlete.
Blaithin Sheil’s women’s team suffered some enforced late withdrawals with Sheil calling up a number of the clubs junior’s athletes to give them their senior debut.
The performance and the commitment of those young women and the team, showed there is plenty of good days ahead of the team.
There was good performances by Angela Castell Rodriguez second in the 100m and Lucy Barrett third in the 3000m.
A very big shout out to Penny Clarke Dorian, Cara Griffin, Chloe Griffin, Esther Ntoko and Freyja O’Carroll who all made their senior debut in one of the biggest events on the athletics calendar.
The men’s team took fifth place in division one with individual wins for Oisin McCorry in the 400m hurdles, Conrad Latham 800m, Juan Pena Ignacio 5000 and Ibrahim Halil high jump.
Juan Pena Ignacio 1500m, Mark Geraghty weight for distance and the 4x100m relay team of Fionn DeWilde, David Konovalov, Erik Sammon, Jonas Bany.
Another young team who have a big future ahead.
