Niamh Fogarty and Sophie Becker landed gold at day two of the national senior track and field championships.
While there was silver for Brian Fay with Michael Farrelly just outside the medals.
Fogarty secured the club’s 110th national senior gold medal when winning the discus. Fogarty’s first effort of 55.08m secured gold. Anna Gavigan of LSA took second place with a best of 51.30m.

Whereas, Sophie Becker showed her class to retain her 400m title clocking 52.87 seconds for gold, well clear of North Down’s Rachel McCann who posted 53.19 seconds for silver.

Brian Fay took silver in the race or the day the 5,000m final. In a very tight race throughout, Fay made a move for home with just under 800 metres remaining.
However, a very strong finish by the surprise entrant Andrew Coscoran saw Coscoran take gold on the line ahead of Fay.

Michael Farrelly was just a hair off a medal in the 100 metre final. Farrelly took fourth place posting 10.58 seconds, just 0.01 seconds off bronze won by Lorcan Murphy in 10.57 seconds.
Gold went to Bori Akinola in 10.29 seconds and silver to Sean Aigboboh in 10.41 seconds.
Orla Comerford took ninth place in the women’s 100m final in 11.95 seconds. Ciara Neville won out in 11.44 seconds. Angela Castell Rodriguez posted 12.70 seconds in the first semi-final.
Daphni Doulaptsi Teeuwen took seventh place in the long jump with a best of 5.58m.
