O’Donoghue Wins Portmarnock 5K

Joseph O’Donoghue was the fastest man in over 5K winning the Portmarnock 5K on Thursday evening.

O’Donoghue posted 16 minutes and two seconds for victory, 62 seconds cleat of “Portmarnock Tri Club’s Eoin Brady!!”

Annette Kealy won the women’s race in 18 minutes 24 seconds, taking fourth place overall.

Freddy Sittuk took second place in the 10km race just a stride behind Clonliffe’s Colm Rooney. Freddy posting 32:05, a second behind Rooney.

A number of Shamrock athlete’s made the short journey to Portmarnock, just to note this race has an entry limit. The Shamrock’s in action were;

Ultan McGuckin 41:33, Caitriona Costello 43:23, Connor Jennings 46:57, Sarah Hawkshaw 47:42, Maura Lynskey 49:02, Angela Charlton 50:13, Amanda Langan 51:27.

The men’s and women’s team both took silver, both races were won by the host club.

The women’s team of Caitriona Costello, Sarah Hawkshaw and Maura Lynskey scored 33 points, 22 points off gold and winning silver over Dublin Bay Runners on count back.

The men’s team of Freddy Sittuk, Ultan McGuckin and Connor Jennings took silver with 67 points well clear of the third placed Dublin Airport team.
