Carmel Ward won the Longford marathon in three hours eight minutes and 44 seconds, finishing 13th overall. Ward was always in control of the women’s race and finished some 10 minutes clear of second placed Lisa Crowley. Another good day at the Tullamore half-marathon incorporating the famous Quinlan Cup and Leinster half-marathon championship. Robert Frewen led the team home in 10th place clocking 74:13 followed by Ian McConkey in 76:27, Eric Champ 77:52 and Chris Quaid 79:49. Chapters book store on Parnell Street is now stocking the book Green, White and Green. Thanks to Chapters and new owner Michael Finucane for allowing this.
