Medals Galore On Leinster Championships Day Two

The second day of the Leinster track and field championship saw Raheny Shamrock athlete’s take home two gold, two silver and two bronze medals. Niamh Kearney took silver in the 3,000 metres 9:35.31 with Siobhan Eviston taking bronze in 10:04.50, the race was won by Bronagh Kearns of St Senan’s in 9:25.62. Mark Smyth lands Leinster 100m Gold

Mark Smyth won the Leinster 100 metres in 10.48 seconds to add to the national medals he collected last week. Smyth posted 10.48 seconds for gold ahead of Joseph Ojemumi of Tallaght who posted 10.50 seconds for silver. Donal Kearns collected double silver in 110m hurdles and the long jump. Fay Sets New Club 5000 Metres Record

Brian Fay set a new club 5,000 metres record of 13.44.37 in Lucerne, Switzerland on Tuesday evening. Fay’s time broke his own club record of 13.51.59 set last October in the Netherlands. It’s been a good week for Fay who won national steeplechase gold on Saturday morning and still a lot left for him this season.
