Ireland clocked 39.57 seconds to take victory with Israel second in 39.66 seconds. Niamh Fogarty took fourth place in the discus on the opening day of the European Games in Silesia. Fogarty threw a season’s best of 51.24 metres for fourth place. Isreal’s Estel Valeanu won out with a best of 57.17 metres. Ireland are competing in division three of the European team championships, which makes it debut in the European Games.
