Mick Clohisey took Great Ireland Run bronze and national championship silver in a competitive race in the Phoenix Park today.
Clohisey clocked 29 minutes and 44 seconds for third place, with the 2017 AXA Raheny 5 winner Mark Christie of Mullingar Harriers winning out right in 29:30.
England’s Graham Rush took silver in 29:41 just three seconds clear of Clohisey, meaning that Clohisey was awarded silver in the men’s national championship.
Kevin Dooney placed sixth in 30 minutes 31 seconds which translated as fourth in the national championship as Clonliffe’s Sergiu Ciobanu took bronze in 30:20.
The senior men’s team won the national title with a scoring team of Clohisey, Dooney, Simon Ryan 33:21 and Donal Foley 34.02 giving a time total of 2:07.45 with Conliffe Harriers second and Letterkenny third.
Both Clohisey and Dooney were part of the Ireland team along which retained the Sean Kyle cup against the English outfits.
The masters over 35 team of John Dunne 32:45, Michael McMahon 32:48 and Dermot Gorman took gold with a total time of 1:40.16 with North Sligo and Sligo A.C taking silver and bronze.
In the individual championships there were medals for Tom Loftus (bronze over 60), Adrienne Atkins (silver over 50) and Mary Lynch (silver over 65).

Fiona Nelson won the Great Ireland Run 5k in 21 Minutes 29 seconds. A fantastic achievement in the park.
Edel Nelson clocked 22:21 and Sarah Hawkshaw crossed the line in 22:41 in the same race.
