Smyth Helps Ireland to Euro Under 20 Relay Mark

Mark Smyth helped the Irish junior 4 x 100 metre relay team gained the European under 20 championships qualifying standard.

Smyth helped the Irish team to a time of 41.2 seconds, Smyth already has the individual B standard for European under 20’s take place in Grosseto, Italy in July.

At the BMC in Solihul Kieran Kelly took seconds place in the 1500 metres A race with a season opener of three minutes 44.42 seconds.

Eoin Strutt posted a personal best of three minutes 54.62 for seventh place in the 1500 metre E race with Daniel Scully fourth in the 800 metres G race in 1.57.24.

At the Ton Le Gaoithe wind sprints meet a number of athlete’s used the high winds to open their season.

 Orla Comerford race twice over 100 metres finishing fourth in both races posting 12.7 seconds (+4.9 wind) in race one and 12.82 (+1.5) in race two.

 Colm Bourke took fourth in his first 100 metre race in 11.38 (+3.3) and joint first in race two in 11.48 (+2.2).

 In the same 100 metre race Sean Dowling finished second 11.32 (+2.0) and Sean O’Driscoll fifth 10.94 (+3.3).

Sean Dowling took fourth place over 200 metres 22.89 (+3.9).
