Senior Men & Master Women Capture Terenure

Mick Clohisey was just piped for the Terenure Five mile title as Peter Brandon-Somba winning out by just two seconds.

Clohisey second place along with Cillian O’Leary’s fifth place set up the senior men for team victory with the master’s women team also taking gold.

Clohisey clocked 24 minutes and 10 seconds for victory just two seconds behind Dunboyne’s Brandon-Somba. Cilian O’Leary took fifth place in 25:51.

Ciaran McCarthy took 16th place in 27:55 and Damien Martin 21st in 28:12 giving the senior men a total of 44 points for victory 26 points clear of hosts Sportsworld.

In the women’s race Anette Kealy took third place overall in 29 minutes 53 seconds which equated to first over 45.

 The masters women’s team of Elaine McNulty 33:46, Mary Walsh 33:56 and Adrienne Atkins 34:25 garnered a total of 44 points for gold 11 clear of DSD.

Other athletes who raced in Terenure were; Eamon Traynor 29:23, Conor McCarthy 29:53, Alan Foley 30:18, Ken Shannon 30:26, Paul Cullen 33:03, Keith Fleming 33:11.

Des Lyons 34:58, Paul Larkin 36:17, Nicola Mooney 36:20, Caitriona Costello 36:53, Louis Linnane 37:44, Richie O’Connor 38:27, Connor Jennings 38:49, Anne McComish 43:46, Angela Charlton 44:08 and Maeve Devlin 53:29.

Elsewhere Freddy “The Kenyan” Sittuk landed the River Moy Half Marathon posting 69:35 just five seconds clear of Alan O’Shea of Bantry.

While on Wednesday Tara Kennedy Monks won the Defence forces Half marathon in one 28 minutes 50 seconds.
