Doran & Corry Win Lord Mayor Series Rd 1

Clonliffe Harriers Sean Doran produced a controlled victory in round one of the Lord Mayor Series where a record number began the summer series.

94 athlete’s toed the line for the opening of 13 rounds on a still summer evening with Doran excelling in the conditions to clock 10 minutes 18 seconds.

Simon Devenney took second place in 10 minutes 41 seconds with junior Thomas Ward in third place in 10 minutes 49 seconds.

Raheny Shamrock Junior Niamh Corry was a clear winner of the Women’s race clocking 11 minutes 29 seconds followed by Portlaoise pair Sharon Grant and Paula Grant who both crossed the line in 12 minutes nine seconds.

Round two of the series takes place on Sunday at 11am and incorporates the Tommy Lynam, mid-summer Two mile road race.

All other rounds take place on a Tuesday at 8pm and are open to everyone. €7 per race or €50 per series.
