Records set at Rd 3 of Lord Mayor Series

Joseph O’Donoghue set a scorching pace to win another record breaking third round of the lord mayor of Raheny.

102 athlete’s finished the course meaning the record for both competitions has been reset for the second week in a row.

Due to the high amount of finishes and a number of blanket finishes the video referee was also called into play for the very first time in the Lord Mayor Series.

On the road in a very warm and brisk evening in Raheny, O’Donoghue set a scorching pace to win out in nine minutes 58 seconds ahead of Dermot Gorman in 10:29 and Simon Devenney in 10:38.

The women’s race was won by Ailish Murtagh in a swift 11 minutes 36 seconds, Ailish taking ninth place overall. Orla Manley was second woman home in 12:13, five seconds clear of Laura Brennan.
