Dooney Second in Rathfarnham as Juniors Win

Conor Dooney took second place in the Rathfarnham 5K as the junior men’s team took gold.

Dooney clocked 14 minutes 44 seconds for second place behind Kilkenny man Brian Kirwan who won out in 14:40.

The junior men’s team of David Brophy 15:55 (second junior), Andrew Hyland 16:38 (fourth junior) and James Hyland 17:07 (seventh junior) all set personal best to win the title.

Annette Kealy clocked 17 minutes 46 seconds to win the over 45 category and finish in seventh place overall.

Other runners were Orla Manley 19:59, Feidhlim Kelly 20:42, Blaithin Sheil 20:49, Sarah Hawkshaw 22:09, Patricia O’Cleirigh 24:59, Marianne Fanning 29:04, Niamh Donnellan 38:31.

Meanwhile Mick Clohisey won the Blackrock four mile in Dundalk on Saturday evening posting 19 minutes eight seconds.

Elsewhere Cillian O’Leary posted 2:28.21 at the Berlin Marathon with Seamus Rooney clocking 3:16.24 and Brian Leahy posting 2:39.44. Steve Reeves clocked 2:56.40.

While Simon Ryan finished third in the Stamullen cross country 10K with Niall Power taking second in the over 40 category. Dave Grange finished 52nd in the Nottingham Robin Hood half marathon in 1:24.19.
