Dooney Races World Half-Marathon

A tough day at the office for Kevin Dooney and the Irish team at the World Half-Marathon Championship in Valencia on Saturday.

Dooney became the first Raheny Shamrock athlete to ever compete at this event, posting 72 minutes 14 seconds well outside his personal best of 64:57.

A tough day at the office none the less, there is no doubting Kevin will back to prove his best again in the green and white singlet and in the green vest of Ireland.

Paul Pollock was the first Irish man home in 77th place posting 64:29 as the Irish men’s team finished 19th overall. Geoffrey Kamworor became the second man in history to win a hat-trick of World half-marathon championships. The Kenyan crossed the line in 60:02.

The Irish women’s team were led home by Lizzie Lee for 14th place overall.
