Eric Favors opened 2019 setting a new club indoor shot put record of 17.92 metres when finishing second at the Clemson Orange and Purple Elite meet.
Favors best attempt of the meet came in round three, having thrown 16.67m and 17.53 previously. Ashinia Miller took gold with a best attempt of 19.82 metres.
Favors new record is some seven metres long than the previous record set by Brion Hoban in Athlone IT in 2014.
Meanwhile Colm Bourke jumped Colm Bourke 7.18 meters in the long jump, to take fifth place at Will Williams, Texas A&M Meet.
