Parkrun Roundup Saturday 1st August 2026

What a sensational Saturday morning for the Green and White! Raheny Shamrock AC athletes were out in force this weekend, painting parkrun courses green and black across Dublin, the length and breadth of Ireland, and even further afield.

With an incredible 80 club members taking part across 29 different events, the club spirit was alive and kicking. From fantastic podium finishes to milestone celebrations and social Saturday morning miles, there was plenty to celebrate.

Milestone Moment: Patricia O’Cleirigh Reaches 250 parkruns

A special mention this week goes to Patricia O’Cleirigh, who completed her 250th parkrun at Bushy parkrun in London, finishing in a fantastic 24:54. Congratulations Patricia on reaching such a brilliant milestone and representing Raheny Shamrock AC with distinction.

The Champions and Podium Stars

We start this week by celebrating some truly exceptional performances at the very front of the fields. The club recorded three fantastic parkrun winners and three sensational runners-up.

  • Sean Kelly was in flying form at Father Collins parkrun, leading the entire field home to take a magnificent 1st place finish in 17:16.
  • Over at Malahide parkrun, the unstoppable Annette Kealy delivered a masterclass performance, crossing the line in 19:04 to finish 7th overall and claim the 1st Female Finisher
  • At Knockanacree Woods parkrun, Hannah Coleman had a brilliant run to claim the 1st Female Finisher spot, finishing 8th overall in 27:53.
  • There were also three fantastic silver-medal performances: Brian Sexton took 2nd overall at St Anne’s in 18:33, Hugh Cronin secured 2nd place at Castleblayney in 21:44, and Owen Joyce finished 2nd at Templemore in 19:54.

Terrific Top 10 Finishes

The top-tier performances did not stop there, with Raheny Shamrock AC athletes packing the top 10 across several events.

  • Colm Delaney finished a brilliant 4th overall at Poppintree in 18:30.
  • John McManus claimed a strong 4th overall at Knockanacree Woods in 23:27.
  • Michael McEnery flew home in 5th overall at Tymon in 19:22.
  • Ciaran Chandler rounded out a great day for the club at Father Collins, placing 10th overall in 19:46.

There were also excellent top-10 gender finishes from the club’s female athletes, including Mary Purdue-Smyth, Rebecca McHugh, Caitriona Costello, Aileen Hooper, Orla McElhinney, Rebekah Atkins, and Amanda Langan. Fantastic running all round.

High-Level Statistics

  • St Anne’s parkrun was the most popular destination, with a massive contingent of 30 Shamrocks taking to the paths of the club’s local park.
  • Father Collins parkrun saw a fantastic turnout of 8 club runners.
  • Ardgillan parkrun welcomed 6 runners tackling the scenic hills.
  • Malahide parkrun had 4 Raheny Shamrock AC members on the start line.
  • A further seven events had a dynamic duo of 2 club members in attendance: Bushy (London), Kilkenny, Killarney House, Knockanacree Woods, Limerick, Poolbeg, and Tolka Valley.
  • There were also 18 solo adventurers flying the club colours at single-member events throughout Ireland and abroad, including London and Wales.
