Eric Favors set a new club shot put record of 19.85 metres at the SEC Championships in Bryan-College station Texas on Friday night.
Favors took second place with his new personal best of 19.85m with Isaac Odugbesan winning out with a best of 20.20 metres.
The throw moves Favors to third place in the all-time national standings, with Victor Costello’s second place throw of 19.93m now under serious threat.
Paul Quirke holds the national record of 20.04m.
