Mark Smyth lands Leinster 100m Gold

Mark Smyth won the Leinster 100 metres in 10.48 seconds to add to the national medals he collected last week.

Smyth posted 10.48 seconds for gold ahead of Joseph Ojemumi of Tallaght who posted 10.50 seconds for silver.

Donal Kearns collected double silver in 110m hurdles and the long jump. Kearns clocked 17.38 seconds for silver in the hurdles a race won by Aaron Tierney Smith in 15.48 seconds.

Later in the day, Kearns took silver in the long jump with a best of 6.11 metres.

Meanwhile, Luke Murphy collected the silver medal in the junior 1500m clocking 4:12.81 in a race won by Joseph Prendergast in 4:09.95.

Elsewhere Gavin Eccles finished fourth in the senior 1500m posting 4:06.18 and just missing out on bronze behind Niall Carbery of Clonliffe Harriers in 4:05.14. Rathfarnham pair Mitchell Byrne took gold in 3:59.53 with David Scanlon second in 4:00.72.

Robert Kelly took ninth place in 4:24.08 and Dylan O’Brien 11th in 4:24.85.

In the masters 1500 meters Gary Aylward posted 5:10.21

While Sean L’Estrange took fourth place in the junior men’s 100 metres posting 11.07 seconds.
