Medals Galore On Leinster Championships Day Two

The second day of the Leinster track and field championship saw Raheny Shamrock athlete’s take home two gold, two silver and two bronze medals.

Niamh Kearney took silver in the 3,000 metres 9:35.31 with Siobhan Eviston taking bronze in 10:04.50, the race was won by Bronagh Kearns of St Senan’s in 9:25.62.

Lucy Barrett finished sixth in 10:21.57 and Aisling Aherne seventh in 10:22.38.

Annette Kealy won the W50 category in 10:36.25, finishing second overall in the master’s race.

Luke Murphy took 800m junior bronze having posted 2.00.8 in heat one for second place in the first heat. This championship was ran on times with Matthew Hayes of Ratoath taking gold in 1:57.70 and Neil Culhane of Ace A.C silver in 1:59.62.

In the senior 800m Gavin Eccles took sixth place in 1.57. 71. Niall Power took silver in the M45 category in 2.19.23.

Kim O’Hare took triple jump gold with a best of 10.77 meters, Grace Furlong of Waterford had jumped 12.09m, but that doesn’t count as Furlong is not from Leinster.

Robert Frewen took eight place in the 5,000 metres in 16:03.88, Philip McGovern was just outside the medals when he posted 18:37.91 for fourth place in the M55 category.
