Feidhlim Kelly has been selected as a middle distance coach to the Irish team for Tokyo 2020.
The Raheny Shamrock stalwart has developed into one of the countries finest coaches in a short period of time and is coach to three of the Irish team at Tokyo 2020; Mark English, Andrew Coscoran and Michelle Finn.
While it is a great honour for Feidhlim, it is also the right move by Athletics Ireland to appoint a young and successful coach with insightful knowledge of the Irish and World athletics scene to what should be his first of many trips to the Olympic Games and major international championships as part of the Irish team.
Kelly joins Paddy Fay as an Irish Olympic team coach, Paddy was coach of the Irish team at Sydney 2000.
There was also good news on the coaching front as our Atlanta 1996 Olympian Paddy McGrath has coached athlete Ruddy Winkler to Tokyo 2020 on the USA team.
Winkler won the US Olympic trial and broke the US hammer record with a throw of 82.71 metres. Congratulations to Paddy another man who has made great waves in the coaching world.
The very best wishes to the Irish team at Tokyo 2020 especially Sophie Becker and Feidhlim Kelly and to all friends of Raheny Shamrock Athletic Club.
