Brian Fay Breaks Four Minute Barrier

Brian Fay wrote himself into the history books as he became the first Raheny Shamrock athlete ever to break the four minute mile barrier.

Fay joined the elite band of milers when he clocked 3:58.91 at the Dave Clark mile in London on Wednesday night.

The Feidhilm Kelly coached athlete set a new personal best and club record when he finished fourth in his race, which was won by Matthew Ramsden in 3:55.78.

For the record Darragh McElhinney was second in 3:58.20 and Jack Rowe third in 3.58.76 just ahead of Fay.

Congratulations to Brian Fay on this momentous achievement as he now finds himself in the record books.

Also to coach Feihilm Kelly who no doubt isn’t getting a moments sleep in Tokyo such with the exictiment.
