Raheny Shamrock AC was proudly represented in huge numbers at this year’s Dublin City Marathon, with outstanding performances from front to back of the field. From elite-level times at the sharp end of the race to determined marathon debuts and personal bests throughout the day, club members once again showcased the depth and strength of distance running within the club.
Leading the way was James Hyland, who produced a superb run to finish 29th overall in 2:28:04, the fastest performance by a Raheny Shamrock athlete on the day. James’s result placed him comfortably inside the top 30 in a highly competitive field and highlighted months of dedicated training.
The club’s leading woman was Fiona Stack, whose excellent 2:44:35 performance saw her finish as the first Raheny Shamrock woman home and among the leading female finishers overall. Fiona’s run was one of the standout performances of the day and capped a fantastic marathon campaign.
Behind James, a strong men’s contingent packed the front end of the results, with Stephen Butler (2:36:47), Robert Frewen (2:41:31), Sean Kelly (2:42:32) and Conor Grant (2:44:02) all recording impressive times.
A remarkable 19 Raheny Shamrock athletes broke the three-hour barrier, underlining the club’s strength in marathon running. Among those joining the sub-three-hour club were Eoghan Wrafter (2:46:58), Conor Ahern (2:48:07), Aidan Jones (2:48:29), Brian Kelly (2:49:33), Oran Heron (2:51:24), Will Boyle (2:51:51), Damian Kehoe (2:53:06) and Dylan O’Brien (2:53:31).

The club’s success extended right through the field, with strong performances from athletes targeting personal bests, milestone achievements and simply the satisfaction of completing 26.2 miles. Notable runs included Shirley Coyle (3:25:30), Treasa Wall (3:27:21), Lisa McCarthy (3:34:34), Eibhín Eviston (3:34:56), Hannah Coleman (3:37:24) and Maura Dineen (3:44:42).

The determination of Raheny Shamrock runners remained evident throughout the afternoon, with athletes continuing to cross the finish line right through to Gerard Fay’s 5:48:37 finish. Every marathon completion tells its own story of commitment, resilience and perseverance, and each finisher contributed to a memorable day for the club.
