Christmas Day Goal Mile

Raheny Shamrock Athletic Club host a GOAL Mile on Christmas morning in St Anne’s Park at 11am.

Raheny Shamrock first held a Christmas day road race on December 25th 1958 and have held a Christmas day race every year since, until of course 2020 when Covid-19 restrictions prevented this.

We are delighted to be able to return to our Christmas race schedule and delighted to partner with GOAL Mile again for the 20th year.

Race entry is open to everyone and while free we do ask you to make a contribution to Goal. You can donate to Goal here.

On Christmas morning the race gets underway with the following trophies on the line for Raheny Shamrock members.

The Billy Peppard Cup – First male athlete.

The Sean Giblin Cup – First female athlete.

The Shamrock Trophy – First Junior male

The Noel Power Cup – First Junior female

The McDermott Cup – First Juvenile

The Brian McLaughlin Cup – Predicted Time

The Freddy Fox Cup – First Parent and Child

For anyone entering the Brian McLaughlin cup and Freddy Fox Cup please email Dick Hooper with your predicted times before 6pm on Christmas Eve.

The race starts at the Sybill Hill entrance to the main avenue in the park and the course is a straight course.

The club hosts its traditional St Stephen’s Day Paarlauf at noon in St Anne’s Park. This race is a mixed 20 minute continuous relay. The race is open to everyone of ability or age.
