The men’s and women’s teams made very performances at round two of the national indoor track & field league in TUS, Athlone.
The women’s 4x200m team of Charlotte Wingfield, Camilla Vigano, Hannah Byrne and Tara Meier set a new club record of one minute 43.98 seconds to win the event.
The time equalled the national club record for the 4x200m relay.
Elsewhere Kay Bannon’s team finished second overall in round two with 61.5 points. DSD were top dogs on day two with 63 points.
Kim O’Hare won the triple jump with a best of 11.02 metres and then finished joint eighth in the high jump with a best of 1.30 metres.
Lucy Barrett took fifth place in the 1500m in 4:44.12. Susie O’Flynn fourth in 400m in 62.58. Tara Meier third in her heat and fourth overall in the 60 metre hurdles in 9.27 seconds.
Helen Buckley took third place in the hammer with a best throw of 4.42 metres.
Mick Hynes men’s team finished sixth overall with 51 points, this should be enough to qualify for the national league final.
Of the performances on the day Cillian Kirwan won the 1500m in 3:56.52 some four seconds clear of GCH’s Keith Fallon.
Oisin McCorry took sixth place overall and second in his heat when posting 51.06 seconds in the 400 metres. Donal Kearns posted 9.43 seconds to finish third in his heat and sixth overall.
Donal Kearns collected five points in the high jump with a best of 1.50m. Mick Hynes grabbed six points in the hammer with a best of 4.15 metres.
The men’s 4x200m relay took third place winning their heat in 1:32.98. The team of Mark Smyth, Sean L’Estrange, Cillian Kirwan and Donal Kearns.
