College Medals For Raheny Athlete’s

A number of club athlete’s collected medals at the Irish University track and field championships over the weekend.

On Friday, Niamh McCorry collected gold in the pentathlon with a total of 2805 points clear of Louise King’s 2608 points.

McCorry landed victory in the shot put with a best of 10.88 metres. McCorry took second place in the high jump with a best of 1.50 metres and the 800 metres in 2:40.75.

Niamh Fogarty took gold in the discus in a new TUS record of 51.17 metres just short of the Irish university record.

While Daniel Stone took bronze in the 10,000 metres clocking 30:47.77 some six seconds behind his DCU team mate Sean O’Leary. Thomas Devaney took gold in 30:36.62.

On day two (Saturday) Mark Smyth of DCU took silver in the 100 metres posting 10.72 seconds. Israel Olatunde took gold in 10.50 seconds.

Smyth with Michael Farrelly took gold in the 4×100 metres as part of the DCU team clocking 41.23 seconds with NUIG second in 41.65. Sean L’Estrange was part of the bronze medal Trinity team who clocked 41.94 seconds.
