Favors sets new national shot put record

Eric Favors set a new national shot put record with a throw of 20.07 metres at the Puerto Rico international athletics classic.

Favors took fifth place with a best of 20.07m. American Ryan Crouser won out with a best of 22.75m. Second place went to Payton Otterdahk (20.97m), third place to Andrew Likowitz (20.55m) and fourth place to Italian Nick Ponzio (20.53m).

Favors now holds both the national indoor and outdoor shot put records, having set the national indoor shot put record in January this year at 19.84m.

The previous record had been held by Paul Quirke of Crusaders of 20.04m set in July 1992 in New York.
