Becker Moves Into All-Time Irish Top-Five

Sophie Becker set a new club 400 metres record at the Belfast Irish milers club on Saturday.

Becker posted 52.24 seconds for a very comfortable win over Carvs McAulay of Trafford in 53.97. The time was of course a personal best and a great season opener for Becker.

The time moves Becker into the Irish all-time top five!

Elsewhere Susie O’Flynn clocked 2:15.02 in the women’s 800m B race. Lucy Barrett posted 4:35.88 in the women’s B 1500m.

In the men’s 5000m A race Kieran Kelly posted 14:33.37 for seventh place.

Meanwhile you can add steeplechase champion to Brian Fay’s ever-expanding U.S accolades. Fay ran his first steeplechase of the season and produced a Pac-12 title on Saturday.

Fay finished in 8:32.47, the seventh-fastest time in the NCAA this season. It was the fastest men’s steeplechase time at the conference championships since 1988.
